High School Schedule Updates
We are grateful for the support and patience from our students and family during this difficult time. We know learning improves when students are in school full-time, so over the past few months, we have worked collaboratively on a plan that allows students to transition away from the A/B hybrid schedule and safely resume full-time, in-person classes. Beginning Monday, February 1, all East and West students will resume daily, in-person instruction.
Working with health officials and gathering information from students, parents, and staff has provided guidance for these next steps forward. Data shows that there is limited to no spread of Covid-19 occurring in our buildings. Bringing our students back full-time with continued safety precautions will allow students to better engage with their instructors and improve learning. At this time, students currently enrolled in virtual may continue in virtual.
Thank you for your flexibility during this school year and we look forward to seeing our in-person students daily.
Prekindergarten Registration
PreKindergarten-age programs are being offered through Waterloo Schools in partnership with Tri-County Head Start, Cedar Valley Catholic Schools, Immanuel Lutheran Preschool, Community United Child Care, Learn and Play, Small World Preschool and A to Z.
PreKindergarten registration for Waterloo students will begin February 1, 2021. Enrollment applications are being taken virtually at www.https://teamtricounty.org/enroll-now/. Children need to be four on or before September 15 to participate in the Waterloo Schools PreKindergarten programs.
Parents will be able to attach the following required documentation to register their child: proof of address, copy of current physical, child’s immunization record and proof of income. Parents needing additional assistance with the registration process may make an appointment by contacting our centralized registration office located inside our Head Start partner by calling 319-235-0383.

WATERLOO SCHOOLS REVISED SPECTATOR GUIDELINES
Home Team – Each East and West participating athlete, cheerleader and coach will now receive four (4) wristbands/vouchers for events held at East or West high schools. Please note that spectator guidelines for bowling, swimming and other activities may have different restrictions based on the venues.
–Visiting Team – The visiting players and coaches are still limited to two (2) wristbands per player and coach.
–All spectators must have a school-issued wristband in order to purchase a ticket and enter the game. Passes will be honored, but the individual still must have a wristband to enter the game.
–East and West will continue to livestream games and meets that take place in the main gyms at no cost via the following links:
-West Home Games/Meets – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzkwsWcCg_SmmpZVh7WwliA
-We will also assign visiting fans to the upper balcony bleachers located behind the team benches and will monitor the home side lower bleachers and direct spectators to the upper section once the lower bleachers have reached the capacity to maintain social distancing.
-We will also require varsity home team players waiting to play to sit in the home side upper balcony and sophomore or JV players to sit in the upper balcony on the home side if they remain to watch the varsity game.
-We will continue to monitor crowds and make adjustments as necessary.
-When East or West is the visiting team, the home team will establish how many spectators will be allowed for East and West.
-Please note the following clarifications from the IHSAA and the IGHSAU regarding the Governor’s Proclamation of January 7, 2021:
Section 6
B. Sporting and recreational gatherings: Except for collegiate or professional sporting or recreational gatherings, all sporting and recreational gatherings, including sporting, recreational and other extracurricular gatherings sponsored by a high school, must comply with the following requirements:
(1) Social Distancing Required: The gathering organizer and all spectators must ensure at least six feet of physical distance between each group of spectators.”
(2) Masks Required: Although athletes or student participants are not required to wear a mask while participating in a gathering, all other participants and spectators over the age of two shall wear a mask or other face-covering for all gatherings.
Q. Are schools required to allow more spectators or may they follow previous plans of household members for each participant?
A. Schools can determine their spectator limits. Any guidelines more restrictive (fewer than the proclamation allows) are permissible. Schools/conferences may continue with their spectator plans based on the more restrictive guidelines in the December 16 proclamation if they desire.
